Advantage Group International is seeking an IT Infrastructure Architect to join our Digital team to help us enhance and support IT infrastructure.  This infrastructure hosts client-facing and back-office applications that drive our business.  The successful candidate will show leadership and help our team members grow their skills while growing our systems.

Who We Are Seeking 

We are looking for an Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure Architect to provide technical leadership to enhance and support the IT infrastructure that hosts our client-facing and back-office applications in a hybrid (cloud and on-premises) environment.  The successful candidate will ensure that our infrastructure meets or exceeds all performance, security, supportability, and availability requirements.  

In other words, we need someone who:  

• Has 7+ years of experience architecting, designing, implementing and maintaining hybrid infrastructures. 

• Has proven experience in planning and executing IT infrastructure projects. 

• Has a solid understanding of cyber security. 

• Has a good understanding of Virtualization including hardware platforms, storage devices, and network resources.  

• Has experience building and deploying containerized applications. 

• Is proactive in defining IT Infrastructure needs, practices required in the business and can clearly articulate / communicate their value.  

• Has experience monitoring complex IT infrastructure for robustness and performance and proactively addressing warning signs before they become service outages. 

• Can analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex IT infrastructure issues. 

• Can lead the development of IT technology roadmap that is aligned with business strategy. 

• Thrives in a small multi-disciplinary team environment. 

• Is passionate about assisting us in improving our IT infrastructure. 

• Can work in an Agile environment (be part of a team and manage your own time).   

• Can mentor other team members, promote new ideas and technical solutions. 

Your Day-to-Day 

Currently – in production – a variety of internal and external applications are used to create surveys, analyse responses, and report the results to some of the world’s leading organizations.  We are developing, maintaining, and enhancing production systems and improving their functionality and performance over time.  Your responsibilities will involve: 

• Install and configure new environments based on business requirements and needs. 

• Architect, design and implement solutions for new applications, tools, and platforms. 

• Lead periodic security audits, security vulnerability scans and resolution of findings. 

• Define and enforce relevant technical procedures and standards. 

• Evaluate, plan and accurately forecast IT resource and budgetary needs.  

• Get a thorough understanding of the current architecture and oversee developing future component architecture and migration plans. 

• Evaluate new technologies, tools and solutions. 

• Create Proof of Concepts (PoCs) as required to select best solution alternatives. 

Your Skill Set 

You should have experience with most of the following:  

• Cloud technologies and public cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure, AWS. 

• Virtualization technologies such as VMWare 

• Software and Cyber Security 

• Data Privacy (GDPR) 

• Experience with containerizations tools such Docker, Kubernetes. 

• Experience with one or more relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Snowflake, ... 

• Linux and Windows operating systems 

You should understand: 

• Common development tools, such as Maven, Git, Jenkins, etc. 

• BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, Birst 

• Software architecture 

• Relational data

• Willingness to learn and work with tools that are outside the traditional stack, such as Tableau, Okta, Confirmit, and others 

You must be: 

• A creative thinker:  need to be able to come up with novel solutions to established problems and evaluate their business benefit. 

• Business-savvy:  need to be able to interact with both business specs and technical specs 

• Detail-oriented (being able to pay close attention and notice minor details)
